Not Being Axl Rose
I’m ex-Axl Rose.
Our annual dinner is coming and my friend who loves to play guitar wants to perform Patience by G N’ R. For the sake of fun, camaraderie, etc., he wants me to be the vocals.
The thing is, I’m old enough to know who can’t sing and who can sing, and to know that I really really can’t sing. No, really.
Well, people would naturally protest at having to sing in front of a hundred people, wouldn’t they? So they thought I was being plain old shy and insisted that I be the one.
Being thick-skinned is no problem at all, but the basic ability to make a tune with my voice is just not there.
Anyway, last night we had a practice session and this much I know: my friends are very polite and very kind. They tried hard to suppress their laughter and mostly succeeded.
So this morning when I mentioned that I won’t be doing Patience, they agreed right away …

I agree with fadzlizuka. I think you can perform this song well. The problem is you can’t connect with it. Something is bothering your mind?
