New Vios

I happened upon the second generation Toyota Vios yesterday in Subang Jaya. It was wearing Singapore plates - here in Malaysia, UMW Toyota is still selling the 2003 model.

Looks odd at first glance but one quickly gets used to the grille. I can see a family resemblance to the new Camry. The interior looks plush (but maybe because my specimen was full spec).

I did notice that there seems to have been a surge of new Vioses (2003 model) on the road lately. I heard UMW Toyota has been giving an RM4,500 rebate on it. Perhaps they want to sell as many units as possible before introducing the 2007 model. I hope those who recently bought the Vios know what they’re in for. But what the heck, if I were looking for an economical and reliable saloon with a budget of around RM80,000, and I could get a discount of RM4,500 for the downpayment of a new 2003 Vios, I would still get it, even if the launch of the 2007 Vios may be just around the corner.
