Cutting Down on Fuel Expenses

Fuel price hike!

Never go above 80 km/h: check.

Maintain correct tyre pressure: check.

Don’t carry around stuff unnecessarily: check.

Avoid traffic jams: check.

Minimize aircon use: Now there are two schools of thought here. On the one hand, switching on the aircon makes the engine work harder and consume more fuel. On the other hand, opening the window causes wind drag and makes the engine work harder. I choose to open the window about a quarter of the way when driving in the mornings and evenings.

So do these things work? So far I don’t see much of a difference. I might be carpooling soon, hopefully the savings there will be significant.

Opening the window vs using the aircon….’Mythbusters’ experimented this and the results: opening the window is more fuel efficient. hehe…but could be disastrous to your health ;)
