ClearType and Programming Fonts
I’d been hearing all sorts of hype about ClearType, but each time I turn it on, I feel like there’s something wrong with my eyes. Everything looks blurry.
Turns out that ClearType needs tuning. This article in PC World showed me how to tune ClearType using Microsoft’s ClearType Tuner.
Now the fonts on my screen look soft and somewhat rounded. So is this better? I don’t know. It’s like right on the border between pleasant and out of focus …
Without ClearType I had been using the Andale Mono font for programming. But Consolas is much better suited to ClearType, having been designed for it.
