I like to read blogs. At the very least I’ll glance through those of my family and friends. Sometimes when I’m bored I seek out new blogs. Unfortunately I don’t know of a systematic way to find blogs that would interest me.
There are apparently blog directories but as far as I can tell these are just simple listings. I think unranked lists with more than ten items in them don’t hold any value.
Another tool to find good blog content is via social or popularity websites, such as reddit or Digg. Posts with the most votes appear at the top of the list. However I find this system to be a bit random. Moreover the rankings can be gamed. Most importantly, I’m looking for blogs, not for posts, so these websites don’t work for me.
I’m waiting for Google to come up with a solution to this problem. If they’re able to rank pages, maybe they’ll find a way to rank blogs.
