AGiP DVD Player
I was looking for a DVD player at Tesco and there were a few el cheapo brands on promotion. I chose one which felt like it had OK build quality - the least tacky-looking one was sold out - brought it home, and set it up. The next day I couldn’t find my condominium pass. I last saw my one-year-old son playing with it. I looked under the cushions and rummaged amongst his toys - this has happened before, but no luck this time. Then a sickening realization dawned upon me - did he put it in our new DVD player?
I pressed the eject button - nothing happened. Oh man. I peered inside the DVD tray and there it was - my condominium card. Aaargh! I tried to pull out the tray but it was the stuck, the card was wedged inside. I had no choice but to prise open the top cover, voiding the warranty. It wasn’t easy - DVD players aren’t designed to be disassembled by end users, unlike PCs - but after a sweaty 30 minutes I managed to get my card out.
I refastened the top cover and found two screws left over. Who cares. I plugged in the DVD, fully expecting it not to work. It switched on. Hmm. Then I pressed the eject button. No response. Yup, just as I thought - I had pulled out the tray with some force, so I was sure I had broken something. Then my son pressed the eject button. The tray came out like it was brand new! Woohoo!
I would therefore wholeheartedly recommend the AGiP DVD player. It has been toppled over, dropped, force-fed, unprofessionally disassembled and even sat upon by a 16 kg toddler. And it works just fine. For RM89.90 (original price RM119.90) you couldn’t ask for more.

Hi there,
Touch wood but I have been using it for the past 1 and half year or so and noo problems. The tray opens half way since my 3 years old girl decided that the tray would not open fast enough for or or something towards that thinking.
The DVD player reads almost anything I cam across except Blue Ray discs. I got it from TESCO for about RM109 or 119, I cannot remember. The player is now priced at RM139.00 (08/Sept/2009).
I am very pleased with the player since I can just download movies from YouTube for example and save them to a USB drive or even harddisk with no problems.
Large images more than 2 Mb load slightly slowly, but I never use it for the purpose.
CD-R and RW play beautifully. However, when it comes to DVD’s, I have tested DVD-R 16x for a birthday party video and it works swell. DVD+RW do not work well.
Divx , MP3 and audio CD’s are no issues.
Now guess what???!!!!!
I have just purchased from TESCO the newst model at RM169.00 . Not only it can do whatever its predecessor could do (duh), but guess what? It supports SD cards
and HDMI output with HDMI cable included.
I have purchase this toy (he he) for my office to hook it to out Digital Display for promotional purposes.
I hope this small little review would help.
P.S. : I don’t work for AGIP LoL
Cheers.

Hi there,
Sorry for the late reply. I am not sure for the MP4 format. However, usually for TESCO, they would not mind to test out the things for you.
Yes, it supports USB and the new ones have and SD card slot.
I had the same problem with my remote control. Please remember; NEVER EVER USE ALKALINE BATTERIES WITH THESE REMOTE CONTROLS !!! It could damage it. Always use heavy duty ones.
I went to Jalan Pasar and found the remote, however, there were three different types. I had to by one and test than exchange it with a second one. They all look the same except that the buttons have different functions.
I called the company selling AGIP, they were asking for RM25.00 for the remote. I bought the one from Jalan Pasar at RM7.00 .
I hope this would help.
Looking forward for theiur BluRay version of AGIP
Cheers.
