Accountants can be funny too
My wife is an accountant and soon-to-be financial analyst. Every month she receives Accountants Today (”Professionalism at the Forefront”), a publication of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants. As we might expect, it contains articles such as “Voluntary Disclosure in Malaysian Corporate Annual Reports”, “Tax Risk Management from a Legal Perspective” and “Value Creation Strategy for Sustainability”.
To spice things up a little, I suppose, there’s a section at the back called “Accountant’s Corner … Counting on Humour”. I’m quite sure most of the jokes are recycled from the Internet; be that as it may, I appreciate funny stuff, plagiarized or otherwise. Here’s one I like from the January 2009 issue:
Top credit crunch jokes to have you laughing all the way to the bank
I went to the ATM this morning and it said, “insufficient funds” … I’m wondering is it them or me?
With the current market turmoil, what’s the easiest way to make a small fortune?
Start off with a large one.
How do you define optimism?
A banker who irons five shirts on a Sunday.
What’s the difference between an investment banker and a large pizza?
A large pizza can still feed a family of four.
What’s the capital of Iceland?
About £3.50.
